The Scottish Charity Finance Directors' Group was launched in 1994 to provide a forum for those working in and concerned with all financial management aspects of charities and other voluntary organisations in Scotland.  There are now over 140 members throughout Scotland with a variety of interests.

The Group has the objective of:

  • Providing an opportunity for the exchange of views and a discussion on potential solution of common problems for accountants and other Senior Financial Executives in Scottish Charities;
  • Assisting in improving the professional standard of those with financial responsibility in the charity sector in Scotland;
  • Providing an additional focal point within the Scottish Charity World which embodies organisations such as the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, The Scottish Executive and others for an informed view on technical matters relating to accounting and finance.

To help achieve this, the group organises seminars and workshops as well as providing members with newsletters and a Charity Finance Yearbook.

Some of the seminars we have held, normally lasting approximately 2 hours, covered topics such as SORP, IT, pensions, fund raising, reserves policy, Data Protection and employment Issues.  The seminars, which alternate between Edinburgh and Glasgow, also provide an opportunity to network and some special interest groups have been set up.  These services are all provided within the Annual Subscription of £65.

Membership is primarily accountants and senior financial executives working in Scottish based charities.
